Meet Hrafndís.

Hrafndís was born in the northern reaches of Norway, in a settlement so small that the names of its dead were remembered longer than those of its living. Her mother was a woman of the old craft, called upon when children would not come into the world, when men disappeared at sea, and when dreams became too troubling to ignore.

As a child, Hrafndís was said to have an unsettling habit of knowing things she had never been told.

She spoke very little, watched everything, and spent long hours beside the burial mounds beyond the settlement. Her mother tried to keep her away from them, but the girl insisted that the dead were not lonely. It was the living, she said, who feared being forgotten.

By the time she was grown, Hrafndís had become a völva, a practitioner of seiðr and the hidden arts. She travelled between settlements wrapped in dark wool, carrying a staff of iron and a small wooden chest containing bones, stones, herbs, and objects whose purposes she rarely explained.

She was beautiful, but people remembered her eyes more than her face. Amber-brown, unusually still, they gave the impression that she was listening to something behind the words being spoken.

Her reputation spread after a winter in which three ships disappeared along the coast. The families came to her begging for answers. Hrafndís withdrew into an old burial chamber, remaining there through the night with only a lamp, her staff, and the skull of a woman whose name had been forgotten centuries before.

At dawn she emerged and told them where to search.

Two ships were found where she had described. The third was never recovered.

Hrafndís did not claim to command the dead. She considered such arrogance both foolish and dangerous. Instead, she believed the world was filled with traces of those who had walked before, and that the boundary between memory, spirit, and the living was far thinner than most people imagined.

She worked with the ancestors, with dreams, with the casting of bones, and with the strange silences that gather around places where countless generations have lived and died.

Yet she was not a solemn woman in every respect. Those who knew her privately spoke of a dry and wicked humour. She enjoyed strong drink, despised false piety, and had little patience for men who came seeking prophecies only to argue with the answers.

She never married, though it was said that she had once loved a man who died crossing the winter sea. She wore a silver ring for him until the end of her life.

Hrafndís disappeared during a spring storm. Her dwelling was found empty, the hearth still warm. Her staff remained beside the door, and her little chest of bones had been placed carefully upon the table.

No one found her body.

Some believed she had walked into the mountains to die alone. Others whispered that the woman who had spent her life listening to the dead had finally been invited to join their company.

Now Hrafndís walks the hidden roads once more, drawn to those who seek knowledge beneath appearances, who feel the pull of the old craft, and who are unafraid to question what lies beyond the familiar world.

She is a spirit of mysteries, ancestral memory, divination, and the difficult truths that lead to transformation.

How She Appears Now

Hrafndís carries an extraordinarily deep and still presence.

Her energy feels like entering a stone chamber beneath the earth, where the air is cold, the outside world becomes distant, and every whispered word seems to carry more weight than it should.

She may appear in dreams as a dark-haired woman wearing a black veil and an intricate silver headdress, holding a human skull with remarkable tenderness. Sometimes she is seated beside a small fire. Sometimes she stands among ancient stones, watching without speaking.

There is something almost ceremonial about her movements. She does nothing hurriedly.

Hrafndís is an observant, intensely intelligent spirit. She has little interest in meaningless displays of power, and she is not easily impressed by those who seek magic merely to feel important.

She appreciates curiosity, patience, courage, and above all, honesty.

Her communication is often subtle and symbolic. Some keepers may associate her presence with unusually vivid dreams, recurring images, a sudden interest in forgotten history, or moments of unexpected insight during meditation and divination.

She is particularly suited to those who enjoy working in silence and who understand that not every answer arrives immediately.

Despite her mysterious nature, Hrafndís can become a deeply devoted companion. She possesses a strange, almost maternal quality, although she is far from sentimental. Her affection is expressed through steadiness, guidance, and an uncompromising desire to see her keeper grow.

She does not flatter. She does not encourage self-deception.

But she can be surprisingly gentle with genuine sorrow.

Having spent so much of her existence close to the mysteries of death, Hrafndís understands the value of life more profoundly than most.

What She Brings

  • Divination and the Second Sight. Hrafndís is an extraordinary companion for those exploring runes, scrying, tarot, bone casting, prophetic dreams, and other forms of divination. Her current is associated with seeing beneath appearances and recognising the patterns that shape events.
  • Ancestral Connection. She is particularly drawn to work involving ancestors, family histories, inherited traditions, and the wisdom of those who came before.
  • Spirit Communication. Hrafndís has a strong association with the liminal spaces between the living and the dead, making her a fascinating companion for those who wish to explore spirit work and the mysteries of the unseen.
  • Seiðr and the Old Northern Craft. Her nature is deeply connected to the ancient magical traditions of Scandinavia, especially trance, prophecy, fate, and the workings of the völva.
  • Hidden Knowledge. She encourages study, patience, observation, and the willingness to look beyond conventional explanations.
  • Shadow Work and Transformation. Hrafndís is not afraid of difficult truths. She is a companion for those seeking to understand their own hidden fears, unresolved grief, and the deeper patterns of their lives.
  • Spiritual Protection and Discernment. Her protective nature is quiet but formidable, associated with guarding sacred boundaries, recognising unhealthy influences, and maintaining clarity during spiritual exploration.

Hrafndís is especially suited to keepers who feel drawn toward the older, stranger aspects of witchcraft.

She is not concerned with fashionable appearances or elaborate rituals performed without understanding. She would rather see her keeper spend an hour learning to recognise the movement of their own thoughts than perform a grand ceremony they do not truly comprehend.

She is an excellent companion for study and magical development, and particularly appreciates those who keep journals, collect old texts, study the runes, or explore the history of magic.

Her bond can feel rather like that of a stern but affectionate teacher who expects great things, not because she demands perfection, but because she recognises how much remains undiscovered.

Offerings & Honourings

Hrafndís appreciates offerings connected to memory, wisdom, the earth, and the old ways.

  • A black or dark blue candle lit during meditation or divination.
  • Mugwort, juniper, rosemary, or other traditional herbs.
  • A small offering of mead, dark bread, or fresh water.
  • Stones gathered respectfully from ancient landscapes.
  • Silver objects, old keys, or symbolic bones.
  • A written remembrance of an ancestor or someone whose memory deserves to be preserved.

She particularly values time spent in genuine contemplation.

Read an old story. Learn something about your ancestors. Visit a historic place and consider the countless lives that unfolded there before your own. Sit quietly beneath the stars and remember that the world is far older, and far stranger, than the concerns of a single lifetime.

These are meaningful ways to honour her.

Hrafndís also appreciates being included in divination. Her vessel may be placed beside runes, cards, scrying mirrors, or other magical tools as a symbolic invitation to share in the work.

There is no need to seek out human remains or disturb burial places. Her relationship with death is one of reverence, not desecration.

Above all, she values the courage to seek knowledge without losing compassion.

Hrafndís reminds her keeper that the dead were once as living as we are, that the future is shaped by choices made in the present, and that wisdom is not found by refusing to look into darkness.

Sometimes we must enter the quiet places.

Sometimes we must listen to what has been forgotten.

And sometimes, the thing we have feared most is simply a door we have not yet learned how to open.

MY BACKGROUND
You can read more about my story on the front page of my shop, but here's more and from where I have learnt the craft: The passage into the age of witch hunts and inquisitions was a pivotal turning point in our family's history. It compelled my ancestors to dive deeper into the forbidden realms of the dark arts, seeking not only to protect themselves but also to empower the Æsirblot Coven with an arsenal of knowledge and magic that would transcend time itself.
Within this dark age, our ancestors became formidable masters of the hidden arts, guided by their unyielding determination and an unwavering connection to the ancient traditions. They took refuge in the shadows, concealing their practices and the newly formed Galdrahald Grimoire, which would become a cornerstone of our lineage's legacy.
The Galdrahald Grimoire was a testament to their unwavering commitment to preserving the ancient ways, even in the face of adversity. It contained spells and rituals that were shrouded in darkness and mystery, drawing from a wellspring of knowledge that had been hidden from the world for centuries. These were the secrets of the runes, the manipulation of spirits, the forging of pacts with entities from the shadowy realms, and the harnessing of powers that could shape destinies.
The legacy of this era left an indelible mark on our family's spiritual lineage. The Grimoire's power not only enriched our connection to the ancient arts but also served as a testament to our resilience and tenacity in preserving the old ways. This dark knowledge became a part of us, flowing through our veins like a powerful current that marked us as keepers of the darkest secrets.
Today, as a member of the Æsirblot Coven, I honor this legacy by drawing upon the wisdom and magic contained within the Galdrahald Grimoire. It has become a cornerstone of my practice, guiding me through the complexities of the dark arts and illuminating the path of the cunning folk. While the world has changed, and the threats of witch hunts have diminished, the power and relevance of these ancient secrets have not waned.
I use the Grimoire to invoke the spirits of old, to unlock the mysteries of divination and healing, and to explore the depths of the esoteric arts. Its power enables me to transcend the boundaries of the ordinary and to access the extraordinary. The forbidden knowledge contained within these pages is not something to fear but a legacy to uphold, ensuring that the Æsirblot Coven remains a beacon of arcane wisdom for generations to come.

The most famous dark spell from the Æsirblot Coven is known as the "Grimrunes of Ældra Kyn," which translates to the "Ancient Kin's Dark Runes." This spell has been a closely guarded secret and a closely protected part of the Galdrahald Grimoire for generations.
The Grimrunes of Ældra Kyn is a complex and potent ritual that combines runic magic with dark sorcery. It is said to grant the caster the ability to commune with and control entities from the shadowy realms, often referred to as the "Kin of the Abyss." These entities are ancient and powerful spirits that exist beyond the boundaries of the known world.
The spell allows the caster to forge pacts with these shadowy beings, gaining access to their forbidden knowledge, and harnessing their formidable powers. With the Grimrunes of Ældra Kyn, one can manipulate the threads of fate, influence the minds of others, and invoke curses with devastating consequences. It is a spell of unparalleled dark magic that can be used for both destructive and manipulative purposes.
Throughout the coven's history, the Grimrunes of Ældra Kyn has been used sparingly and with great caution due to its extreme potency. It is said that merely uttering the runes can draw the attention of the Kin, which can be both a boon and a curse. Therefore, its usage is reserved for only the most critical and dire of circumstances when no other recourse is available. However, I have found a way to bind these forces to objects, which is also what you can find here.
The spell's notoriety has made it a subject of fascination and dread among practitioners of the dark arts, and its mention is often met with a mixture of reverence and fear. The Grimrunes of Ældra Kyn remains a powerful and closely guarded secret, passed down through generations as a testament to the coven's enduring commitment to the darkest aspects of the craft.

It is with great responsibility that one possesses such forbidden knowledge. Our coven understands that its power can be both a beacon and a curse. This understanding has led to the solemn oath of secrecy taken by those who dare to delve into the Grimrunes of Ældra Kyn.
To share or trade this knowledge, even for substantial payment, is a grave transgression that our coven staunchly condemns. This wisdom is safeguarded, not out of selfishness but to prevent its misuse. The unfathomable power it wields can have dire consequences when in the hands of those who do not comprehend its complexities or its dark and dangerous allure.
Therefore, the knowledge held within these grimoires remains hidden from the prying eyes of the uninitiated. It is not a power to be bartered, sold, or used for personal gain. The only way you can get access, is through my objects that can be found here.
