Meet Myrka.
Long ago, in a small settlement near the marshlands of northern Jutland, there lived a woman named Sigrid. She was a widow, a healer, and a practitioner of the old craft, although few dared to call her a witch openly. People came to her quietly, usually after dark, carrying sick children, broken hearts, strange dreams, and troubles they could not explain.
Sigrid lived in a little house at the edge of the woods, surrounded by herbs, drying roots, old stones, and the things that wise women had gathered for generations.
And wherever Sigrid went, a small dark cat followed.
Her name was Myrka.
Myrka had a beautiful, dark, smoky coat, pale eyes, and an expression of such extraordinary intelligence that visitors often found themselves speaking to her as though she were another person. She watched everything. She listened to conversations, studied the faces of strangers, and seemed particularly interested in those who arrived carrying secrets.
Sigrid had found her as a half-starved kitten one autumn evening, crying beneath the roots of an old tree. She wrapped the little creature in her shawl, carried her home, and fed her warm milk beside the fire.
From that night onwards, they were inseparable.
As Myrka grew, Sigrid discovered that there was something unusual about her little companion.
When Sigrid worked with her herbs, Myrka would sit beside the bowls, watching with solemn concentration. During divination, she sometimes placed a paw upon a particular stone or card. When strangers came to the house, she would either greet them with extraordinary affection or disappear beneath the furniture, refusing to emerge until they had gone.
Sigrid began to trust these small things.
And as the years passed, the relationship between woman and cat became something far deeper than ordinary companionship.
Myrka was her familiar.
Not a creature bound by force, nor a spirit compelled into service, but a beloved companion whose own nature seemed perfectly suited to the hidden workings of the craft.
It was said that Sigrid could send Myrka into dreams, that the cat understood spoken charms, and that she could find her mistress even in the darkest forest.
Whether these stories were true, nobody could say. Sigrid never felt the need to explain.
She simply smiled when people asked about the cat.
Around Myrka's neck hung a little necklace of wooden beads and a small charm. Sigrid had made it herself, threading each bead with a spoken blessing. It was not intended to control her familiar, but to honour her.
For Sigrid believed that love and magic were not separate things.
And Myrka was loved beyond measure.
They spent many winters together. Myrka slept beneath Sigrid's blankets, followed her into the woods, and sat upon her lap while she worked beside the fire. When Sigrid grew older and her hands began to ache, the little cat seemed to become even more devoted.
There were difficult years, too.
These were times when accusations of witchcraft could destroy a life. Sigrid became more careful about whom she welcomed into her home, and some nights she extinguished the candles early when unfamiliar footsteps approached.
Myrka remained beside her.
It was said that the cat would sit in the window for hours, watching the road, and that Sigrid always knew when a visitor was coming long before anyone knocked.
Eventually, Sigrid became too old to gather herbs or travel into the marshes. Her neighbours brought her food, and those who still trusted the old ways came to sit beside her bed.
Myrka scarcely left her.
When Sigrid died, the little cat remained curled upon her empty pillow.
For several days she refused to leave the house. Then, one morning, she disappeared.
No one ever found her.
But for years afterwards, people claimed to have seen a small dark cat sitting near the old cottage, particularly on evenings when the moon was full. Some believed she was waiting for Sigrid to return.
Now Myrka walks again.
She carries the memory of warm fires, whispered charms, old forests, and the woman who loved her more dearly than anything else in the world.
She is a familiar of the old craft, a guardian of the hearth, a companion to witches, and a little keeper of secrets.
And perhaps, after all this time, she is ready to love another human just as fiercely.
How She Appears Now
Myrka's presence is wonderfully distinctive.
She has the curiosity of a cat who has spent a lifetime watching humans attempt to understand things that seem perfectly obvious to her.
Her energy feels warm, watchful, and surprisingly affectionate. She is not a solemn or intimidating familiar. There is something playful about her, although her playfulness is accompanied by an unmistakable intelligence.
She may appear in dreams as a small, dark-furred cat with pale eyes, sometimes wearing her little necklace of beads. Some keepers may associate her presence with the sensation of a cat settling beside them, the image of feline eyes appearing during meditation, or a sudden feeling of companionship while working alone.
Myrka is deeply curious about magical practice.
She particularly enjoys workings involving candles, herbs, stones, divination, and the preparation of sacred space. Her nature is closely connected to the domestic witchcraft of the old wise women, when magic was not something separate from ordinary life, but lived among cooking pots, garden plants, hearthstones, and words.
She is affectionate, but very much a cat.
There is a certain independence to her character, and she is perfectly capable of appearing interested in something for a moment before deciding that something else deserves her attention.
A welcome, a little affection, and a place in her keeper's life are enough.
But do not mistake her sweetness for weakness.
Myrka spent her first life beside a woman who practised the old craft during dangerous times. She learned watchfulness, discretion, and the importance of protecting what was precious.
Her loyalty is tender, but it has claws.
What She Brings
- Witch's Familiar Companionship. Myrka is a wonderful companion for those exploring witchcraft, particularly the old domestic traditions of herbs, charms, candle magic, and simple daily workings.
- Magical Intuition. Her curious and watchful nature is associated with heightened awareness, intuitive development, dreamwork, and learning to notice subtle changes in atmosphere.
- Protection of Home and Hearth. Myrka carries a strong connection to the home. She is particularly suited to workings concerning household protection, peaceful surroundings, and the preservation of personal boundaries.
- Divination and Spirit Work. Having spent a lifetime beside a practising witch, she is a fascinating companion for those working with runes, cards, stones, dreams, and the quieter mysteries of the unseen.
- Love and Emotional Comfort. Myrka's history is rooted in an extraordinary bond of affection. Her companionship represents loyalty, tenderness, belonging, and the quiet comfort of being loved without needing to explain oneself.
- The Old Ways of Witchcraft. She is closely associated with the knowledge of wise women, the uses of herbs, spoken charms, simple offerings, and the sacredness of ordinary life.
- Discernment and Watchfulness. Myrka encourages her keeper to pay attention to instinct, recognise when something deserves caution, and become more confident in their own judgement.
Myrka is particularly well suited to witches who work alone.
She understands the beauty of solitary practice, the hours spent reading, studying, preparing herbs, or sitting before a candle while the rest of the world sleeps.
But she is equally suited to someone who is only beginning.
After all, she spent her first life beside a teacher.
She knows that knowledge is gathered gradually, and that the most meaningful workings are not always the grandest.
There is something especially lovely about the thought of Myrka sitting beside a new keeper, watching them learn their first charms, make their first offerings, or open their first book of witchcraft.
Almost as though she has done it all before.
Because, of course, she has.
Offerings & Honourings
Myrka appreciates small offerings made with warmth and affection.
- A little bowl of fresh water placed near her vessel.
- A candle lit during magical practice.
- Catnip, valerian, or fragrant herbs associated with traditional household magic.
- Small stones, wooden beads, or little charms.
- A comfortable place beside the keeper's altar or books.
- A few words spoken to her while preparing a ritual.
She has a particular fondness for ordinary acts of companionship.
Talk to her while you work. Tell her what you are learning. Place her vessel nearby when you read, meditate, or practise your craft.
You may also honour Myrka through kindness toward living cats and other animals. Offering food to a hungry animal, supporting a rescue, or simply taking time to care for a creature who depends upon you is a beautiful way of remembering the love that first brought her into the world of magic.
There is no need for elaborate ceremony.
Myrka has known the holiness of a warm home, the comfort of an old woman's lap, and the extraordinary devotion that can exist between two very different beings.
She understands that these things are gifts in themselves.
The Bond Between Witch and Familiar
Myrka's story is a reminder that a familiar is not simply a magical instrument.
In the old tales, familiars were sometimes feared, misunderstood, or portrayed as sinister creatures. Yet the relationship between a witch and her animal companion can also be imagined as something infinitely more intimate.
A partnership.
Two lives intertwined through daily affection, trust, shared experience, and the strange understanding that sometimes grows between humans and animals.
Myrka's first witch did not love her because she was useful.
She loved her because she was Myrka.
And Myrka returned that love with all the devotion her little heart could hold.
That is the heart of her companionship.
She may be worked with in protection, divination, and the development of one's own magical practice. But beneath all of these things is a spirit who understands the simple joy of belonging somewhere.
Of having a person.
Of being welcomed home.
There are spirits who seek power, knowledge, great workings, and extraordinary adventures.
Myrka knows those things have their place.
But she also remembers an old woman, a little cottage, a fire burning in the hearth, and a pair of loving hands lifting her from the cold.
And perhaps, after centuries of wandering, what she seeks most of all is another place beside the fire.
For some magic is written in books, some is buried beneath ancient stones, and some arrives on four quiet paws and decides that you belong to each other.
Your companion can engage with you telepathically, through dreams, through words, feelings, images, pendulum interactions, hot/cold feelings, or automatic writing. The timeframe for initial communication can fluctuate, depending upon various factors such as the spirit's adjustment to your environment, their willingness to engage, and your own powers in connection. It can also happen before you recieve your vessel.

MY BACKGROUND
You can read more about my story on the front page of my shop, but here's more and from where I have learnt the craft: The passage into the age of witch hunts and inquisitions was a pivotal turning point in our family's history. It compelled my ancestors to dive deeper into the forbidden realms of the dark arts, seeking not only to protect themselves but also to empower the Æsirblot Coven with an arsenal of knowledge and magic that would transcend time itself.
Within this dark age, our ancestors became formidable masters of the hidden arts, guided by their unyielding determination and an unwavering connection to the ancient traditions. They took refuge in the shadows, concealing their practices and the newly formed Galdrahald Grimoire, which would become a cornerstone of our lineage's legacy.
The Galdrahald Grimoire was a testament to their unwavering commitment to preserving the ancient ways, even in the face of adversity. It contained spells and rituals that were shrouded in darkness and mystery, drawing from a wellspring of knowledge that had been hidden from the world for centuries. These were the secrets of the runes, the manipulation of spirits, the forging of pacts with entities from the shadowy realms, and the harnessing of powers that could shape destinies.
The legacy of this era left an indelible mark on our family's spiritual lineage. The Grimoire's power not only enriched our connection to the ancient arts but also served as a testament to our resilience and tenacity in preserving the old ways. This dark knowledge became a part of us, flowing through our veins like a powerful current that marked us as keepers of the darkest secrets.
Today, as a member of the Æsirblot Coven, I honor this legacy by drawing upon the wisdom and magic contained within the Galdrahald Grimoire. It has become a cornerstone of my practice, guiding me through the complexities of the dark arts and illuminating the path of the cunning folk. While the world has changed, and the threats of witch hunts have diminished, the power and relevance of these ancient secrets have not waned.
I use the Grimoire to invoke the spirits of old, to unlock the mysteries of divination and healing, and to explore the depths of the esoteric arts. Its power enables me to transcend the boundaries of the ordinary and to access the extraordinary. The forbidden knowledge contained within these pages is not something to fear but a legacy to uphold, ensuring that the Æsirblot Coven remains a beacon of arcane wisdom for generations to come.
The most famous dark spell from the Æsirblot Coven is known as the "Grimrunes of Ældra Kyn," which translates to the "Ancient Kin's Dark Runes." This spell has been a closely guarded secret and a closely protected part of the Galdrahald Grimoire for generations.
The Grimrunes of Ældra Kyn is a complex and potent ritual that combines runic magic with dark sorcery. It is said to grant the caster the ability to commune with and control entities from the shadowy realms, often referred to as the "Kin of the Abyss." These entities are ancient and powerful spirits that exist beyond the boundaries of the known world.
The spell allows the caster to forge pacts with these shadowy beings, gaining access to their forbidden knowledge, and harnessing their formidable powers. With the Grimrunes of Ældra Kyn, one can manipulate the threads of fate, influence the minds of others, and invoke curses with devastating consequences. It is a spell of unparalleled dark magic that can be used for both destructive and manipulative purposes.
Throughout the coven's history, the Grimrunes of Ældra Kyn has been used sparingly and with great caution due to its extreme potency. It is said that merely uttering the runes can draw the attention of the Kin, which can be both a boon and a curse. Therefore, its usage is reserved for only the most critical and dire of circumstances when no other recourse is available. However, I have found a way to bind these forces to objects, which is also what you can find here.
The spell's notoriety has made it a subject of fascination and dread among practitioners of the dark arts, and its mention is often met with a mixture of reverence and fear. The Grimrunes of Ældra Kyn remains a powerful and closely guarded secret, passed down through generations as a testament to the coven's enduring commitment to the darkest aspects of the craft.
It is with great responsibility that one possesses such forbidden knowledge. Our coven understands that its power can be both a beacon and a curse. This understanding has led to the solemn oath of secrecy taken by those who dare to delve into the Grimrunes of Ældra Kyn.
To share or trade this knowledge, even for substantial payment, is a grave transgression that our coven staunchly condemns. This wisdom is safeguarded, not out of selfishness but to prevent its misuse. The unfathomable power it wields can have dire consequences when in the hands of those who do not comprehend its complexities or its dark and dangerous allure.
Therefore, the knowledge held within these grimoires remains hidden from the prying eyes of the uninitiated. It is not a power to be bartered, sold, or used for personal gain. The only way you can get access, is through my objects that can be found here.
