Meet Ragnveig.

Ragnveig was born where the mountains of western Norway fell steeply into the sea, in a settlement where winter came early and the roads disappeared beneath snow. She was the daughter of a shipbuilder, and learned to handle an axe long before she was old enough to carry a shield. Her father taught her how to recognise weak timber. Her mother taught her how to recognise weak promises. She found the second lesson far more useful.

She became a shieldmaiden known for her extraordinary patience in battle. Ragnveig was not the first to charge, nor the loudest around the fires. She watched. And when she moved, she did so with terrifying certainty. It was said that she could recognise betrayal in a man's eyes before he had even decided upon it himself.

Her shield was dark, marked with three iron-bound lines, and she wore a small piece of amber beneath her armour. She had taken it from the shore as a child, and carried it through every battle.

During a winter raid, when her people were forced to retreat across a narrow mountain pass, Ragnveig remained behind with only four warriors. They held the crossing until the last families had escaped. When the others returned, they found her shield standing upright in the frozen earth. Ragnveig was nowhere to be found.

Some said she had fallen into the ravine. Others believed the old powers had taken her, unwilling to let such a spirit disappear from the world.

Now Ragnveig walks beside those who must stand their ground. She is a guardian of boundaries, difficult decisions, and the courage needed to change one's fate. She does not promise an easy road. She offers the strength to walk it.

How She Appears Now

Ragnveig's presence feels like cold mountain air entering a room, clear, still, and strangely comforting.

She carries a stern but deeply reassuring energy. Some may sense her as a tall woman standing nearby, the impression of iron and wool, or the sudden feeling that they are no longer facing a difficult moment alone.
