You were never ordinary.
Perhaps you have always been drawn to the things others pass by: an old tree, a closed door, a blackened piece of iron, a story that feels strangely familiar. There is room here for that hunger, and for the untamed part of you that has never quite agreed to be quiet.
Grimrunes began as a shop, but it was never meant to remain only a shop. It has become the place where I gather the whole body of my work: grimoires, spirit work, ritual materials, strange objects, research, old magical sources, field notes, and the pieces that do not fit neatly anywhere else.
I am Hazel, a witch of the North. I work with old black books, Scandinavian folklore, household magic, spirits, and the use of iron, ash, thread, bone, stone and salt. But I did not come to the craft only as a reader. There is a bloodline behind my work, and a body of knowledge carried privately through my family.
The Galdrahald Grimoire and the Æsirblot Coven belong to those roots. Some of that inheritance enters the teachings and objects I share here; some remains guarded. Alongside it, I study historical sources and follow the work where it leads. Grimrunes holds all of these strands, with room for the practical, the wild and the things that are not easily explained.
The Old Craft
When I speak about the old craft, I mean the older structures beneath the work: place, material, exchange, boundary, relationship, memory, movement, containment, return and consequence. They are not simply subjects to read about. They give you something to practise, something to notice, and a different way to stand in your own life.
The things themselves are often small. A threshold. A piece of iron. Something tied, buried, carried, returned, washed, marked or left alone. A particular place that is treated differently from the ground around it. An object that gathers history because it has been used again and again.
That is where the work becomes yours: not in how much you can own, but in what you learn to do with what is already in your hands. The old ways are not an invitation to become more manageable. They ask for your attention, your judgement, and the part of you that still knows how to act.
Grimrunes also goes further than that. There are spirits here. Direct workings. Objects made for one person or one purpose. Limited pieces that may exist only once. Books that go much deeper than anything I could fit into a product description. The old craft is the foundation, not the ceiling.
What you will find here
Grimoires and teachings are where I open the deeper work: practical books, black-book workings, inherited fragments and investigations of a single subject. Some are meant to be worked through slowly rather than simply read once.
Spirits have been part of Grimrunes from the beginning. The work here is about relationship rather than collection: contact, keeping, boundaries, attention, and learning what it means to live alongside something that is not you.
Materials and artefacts are the physical side of the craft. Some are humble working things. Some are stranger. Some sit somewhere between tool, relic and object of power. They are made to enter a practice, not merely to decorate one.
Workings are more direct. These include spellwork, portals and pieces made around a particular purpose or current. Here, the work is performed and given form in an object you can carry into your own life.
Notes are where I follow whatever has caught me: an old accusation, an odd object in a museum collection, a surviving custom, a line in a black book, a material that keeps appearing, a story that becomes more interesting the longer I look at it.
If you do not know where to begin
Do not try to understand the whole place at once.
Grimrunes is more like an old house than a curriculum. Some people find the library first. Some go straight to the worktable. Some are here because of the spirits. Some hear something moving upstairs and follow that.
Start with the room that has your attention. You do not need to arrive knowing everything, or to have a family story like mine. Your own practice begins where you are.

About Hazel
I carry an inheritance, but I am not here simply to preserve it behind glass. I work with it. I make with it. I choose what to open and what to keep. Grimrunes is where that work meets the people who recognise something in it.
You can read more about my bloodline, the Galdrahald Grimoire and the untamed heart of this work in About Hazel.
Grimrunes will keep growing. There are rooms here I have not opened yet. For now, choose a door.
