This is not a guidebook like others..  Sortebog No. 1 is a working black book, the first of its kind under the Grimrunes name. In the old North, there were books that were hidden more than read.
Books that were passed hand to hand, or buried under hearthstones, or hidden in the thatch where no priest would think to look. They were called sortebøger, black books. Witch-books. Svartkonstbøker.
And while many were burned or vanished, some of their fragments survived, scratched into bone, whispered, or quietly copied into family grimoires that were never meant to be made public.
This book is made from those fragments.

Some of what you’ll find inside comes directly from real black books of the Scandinavian Middle Ages, accessed through careful research and unusual means. Some is drawn from my personal grimoire, the Galdrahald.

This is not aesthetic witchcraft.
It is not based on belief or tradition.
It is based on function.
